Newest projects and thoughts about future projects

So, I have had the desire lately to make some of my own clothing, and I bought various different patterns for shirts, dresses, and pants/skirt jacket combos. I really want to make some cute Halloween shirts that are fun and yet really elegant and modest at the same time. It’s very hard to find clothing that fits me and is either my style or modest and looks good on me.

Lately, I have been wanting to wear a lot of gothic style clothing and blacks, but honestly, I think it’s because I am excited for Halloween. Halloween has always been my favorite non-religious holiday, and fall is my favorite time of the year for so many reasons. Fall is a perfect time for crafting, and Halloween is the perfect excuse to bring out all my spooky gear (although, I do leave some of it out year-round.) Nightmare before Christmas is one of my favorite movies, and I always have plenty of Jack Skellington and Sally items laying around my apartment. But now, I have an excuse to get out all of my pumpkins, ghosts, other skeletons, haunted house wall hanging, and all my black cat items I didn’t keep out from the year before. It’s also the perfect time to get out my costumes and all my spooky gothic clothes! Unfortunately, I don’t have that much. Have you ever looked at the clothes they have for sale online that are of the gothic variety? I can tell you; I have and there aren’t a lot of options that are modest and would fit me. Not to mention that I do love the look of pastel goth or even the cottage core goth. I have my own sense of style I suppose, and I am coming to love that about myself. That is how I knew for sure that I had found the right specialty for me when I did my rotation for Pathology. I didn’t feel like I had to explain anything. I didn’t have to explain my crafts, the things I like doing outside of school/work, or my sense of style. I felt immediately understood the way I never had before.

But anyway… That was a long side-tangent. If you’re still here with me, I have a few projects that I’m working on and a few more that I’m planning to start for Halloween. I have a really pretty fabric that has black cats, books, flowers, moths, candles, moons, and mushrooms. It’s light purple and so pretty. I’m going to be making a pseudo-corset top with dark purple (I let Seraphina choose between the purple and black that I had picked out). All I need now are just a few other things to start it. (Pictured above)

The next thing that I have that I’m super excited about is a Mr. Bones wall hanging. I’ve cut out half of his pieces, and now I just have to finish cutting him out and sew him together! I also have him two adorable little dolls that I got online that I will be working on this weekend along with Mr. Bones. I guess it’s his kids? lol They’re adorable and I can’t wait to work on them.

Finally, the last thing I want to work on is a corset top. I’m planning to make a peplum corset and add some vintage sleeves to it, but I need a lot more materials and some thinking to be able to start it. I’ll be excited to start it, but I’ll see if I even get around to it in time for Halloween.
