New sewing table and first projects with the antique machine!

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to stop by the local Salvation Army that they opened in the fall of last year. I was on the search for some dress pants. Unfortunately, I didn’t find any dress pants, but I did find some cute things to bring home with me, including a Cat Mom mug. It’s so cute and perfect! The most exciting find that I made was an antique sewing table with sewing machine! You’d be surprised how many sewing tables I’ve seen without the sewing machine attached, and vice versa! This is the nicest wooden table I’ve seen! someone obviously took really good care of it.

I have a new machine that has some timing issues, so when I moved for school, I left it at home until I can get it worked on. Before I left home, I found a really nice portable antique Singer sewing machine at one of the local thrift stores. It was in great condition, and was fairly inexpensive too! I think I paid $35 dollars for it, and the only thing it needed was a new needle!

The deal I got on this new machine is even better. I paid a total of $40 for the sewing table. What makes it even better, it came with so many accessories. I still haven’t figured out how to use some of the presser feet. It also had a user manual, buttonhole foot, and a ton of supplies. Similarly, all it needed was a new sewing needle (and a little bit of oil). The user manual is copyrighted from 1943! I was very surprised how good it looks for its age, and even more happy that I went back for it.

I now have several projects that I am wanting to work on. I got the new sewing table up and running, and I made the lining for my Celtic Knot crochet bag. If you want to know about that, check it out on my crochet adventures blog!

Back to my new plans: I have a few clothing items I’d like to make, as well as a Mr. Bones hanging skeleton that I’m super excited to put together. I’ve ordered some fabrics and patterns. Photos to come soon.
