Crochet Celtic Knot Bag

I saw this idea a couple of months back, and I finally finished it. There was this adorable bag I found on Pinterest from Celtic Knot Crochet. It was the crochet cross body bag. I thought it was absolutely amazing and inspiring.

After looking through their website, I was able to find another small bag that I thought would be perfect for two of the balls of yarn I had bought back in the fall from JoAnn. I was so upset when they announced the closure of all the stores, but that’s another story all together that I’ll save for later. I had bought two cotton balls of yarn in a light teal and a dark teal. It just so happened that I also had some yarn that I had bought previously from Hobby Lobby that was a dark red and looked amazing with the other two colors. I finished the bag itself almost two months ago, but I had no idea how I was going to make the strap or line the bag.

I was lucky to find some other products I bought during the fall while cleaning and organizing my craft stashes last weekend and the weekend before. I found a container of D rings and swivel hooks that were perfect sized for the bag. I crocheted a Romanian lace cord with single crochets along both edges of the cord, attaching both ends to the swivel hooks. Then I took the D rings and attached them to the body of the bag, creating a crab stitch border around the whole bag. The only thing I had left to do was figure out what I was going to line it with.

Last weekend, I moved a new (to me) antique sewing machine table from my living room where I had put it when I bought it earlier during the week to my bedroom. I decided since I had moved the sewing machine table, I might as well sort through and reorganize my sewing supplies. While I was going through my fabric, I found the perfect fat quarter from the Dollar Tree.

So today, I got my new sewing table up and running. It works amazingly (I’ll make a post about that later), and I sewed a two-pocket lining together complete with bias tape edging, then hand stitched it to my completed purse. I think it turned out pretty awesome, and I’m very happy with it. Thank you to Celtic Knot Crochet for the amazing and free Celtic knot square pattern and inspiration for this beautiful bag.
